I hope this finds you well and doing well at this most difficult time for all of us. Hopefully, the vaccines that are now in trial will soon be available so that we can all live full lives again.
My name is Fr Andrew O’Sullivan and I have been appointed the new Administrator of Rathmines Parish. I must be honest, it is a rather strange time to move and even stranger not to be able to meet you the parishioners during lockdown. I hope the Parish webcam and the fact that the church is open every day for private prayer is at least a small consolation in these worrying and troubling times.
I am very much looking forward to meeting you in due course and together building up a vibrant and dynamic Christian community.
In terms of the parish, much work has been done and I hope to build up the parish by encouraging more and more people to become involved in parish life. The Parish is really so much more than a place. It is truly an extended form of family and our beautiful church and parish pastoral centre play their part in nourishing our faith and supporting each other, and importantly reaching out to those around us.
I am very conscious of the work and service that so many have given over the years since the foundation of the parish and I would like to express deep gratitude to all those who give of their time and talent to serve the parish today.
At the moment, a number of important projects are being researched and costed. They are essential repairs to the roof, a new heating system, new lighting, and some decoration for the Church. It is very important that our magnificent church is kept in good condition and is a warm bright and welcoming place for people to gather. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you the parishioners for your extraordinary generosity in supporting the parish. Supporting the parish can now be done in a number of ways: by standing order, by donating online via our parish website, by envelope, by ‘tap and go’ which is located at the back of the church and via the telephone to the parish office.
Once again thank you for your ongoing support and generosity and if I can ever be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Wishing you and your loved one’s good health and happiness as we prepare for the feast of Christmas.
Fr. Andrew O’Sullivan
